How many days do you need in Istanbul for dental treatment?

A table by treatment, why veneers take two visits and implants take months, and how to build an itinerary that does not go wrong.

Dental implants2 trips3–5 each, 3–6 months apart

Everything below explains why those numbers are what they are, and where they can and cannot be compressed.

What finishes in one visit

Composite bonding is done entirely in the mouth, so no laboratory stage exists and nothing has to be sent away. The appointment runs one to five hours depending on how many teeth are treated, and you leave with the finished result rather than temporaries. Whitening takes about an hour and is normally done immediately before bonding in the same appointment.

Fillings take twenty to forty minutes each. A root canal is sixty to ninety minutes, occasionally split across two appointments if there is active infection. Gum contouring is thirty to sixty minutes, though the tissue keeps settling for two to four weeks afterwards, so photographs are worth taking later.

Why veneers and crowns take two visits

They are made by a laboratory from impressions, which means preparation and temporaries on the first visit, then fitting on the second. Most patients stay in Istanbul between the two rather than flying home, which is why the arithmetic reads as four to six days rather than two trips.

A clinic promising permanent porcelain the day after preparation has either skipped the laboratory or is fitting something that was not made for your mouth.

Why implants take months, not days

Bone has to grow onto the implant surface, and that takes three to six months. Nothing shortens it. The first trip is placement, three to five days including a check before you fly. The second is the abutment and crown, another three to five days. For a full arch, allow six to eight days per trip, and you leave the first one with fixed temporary teeth rather than nothing.

Building a realistic itinerary

Land a day before your first appointment if you can. Jet lag and a long treatment session on the same day is a bad combination, and it gives you a buffer if a flight is delayed.

Do not book the return flight for the morning after surgery. Swelling after an extraction or implant placement peaks on day two or three, and a check-up before you fly is part of the treatment, not an optional extra.

Leave a working day spare at the end. Not because something usually goes wrong, but because a high filling that needs two minutes of adjustment is a two-minute problem in Istanbul and a two-week problem at home.

Combining treatments in one trip

This is where the arithmetic improves. A typical cosmetic trip is two days: a check-up, any fillings, whitening and bonding on day one, then a review and polish on day two. Add an extraction and you are at three. Veneers extend it to five or six.

What cannot be combined is anything needing healing between stages: an implant and its crown, or an extraction and the implant that replaces it.

Treatments better done at home

Retreating a failed root canal, internal bleaching of a single dark tooth, orthodontics of any kind, and anything needing several appointments across weeks. We do not offer orthodontics at all, and we will say when a treatment is a poor fit for travel rather than compress it into a schedule that does not serve you.

Send photographs and we will send back a plan with the number of days on it, before you look at flights. See the clinic and getting here page for transfers: the clinic is 25 minutes from Sabiha Gökçen Airport, and about 60 minutes from Istanbul Airport.

Questions people ask

How many days do you need in Istanbul for composite bonding?

One to two days. The appointment itself runs one to five hours depending on how many teeth are treated, and because no laboratory is involved you leave with the finished result rather than temporaries. Whitening is normally done in the same appointment, immediately before the bonding.

How long do veneers take in Turkey?

Two visits totalling four to six days, usually without flying home in between. The teeth are prepared and temporaries fitted on the first visit, the partner laboratory makes the veneers, and they are fitted on the second. A clinic offering permanent veneers the day after preparation has skipped the laboratory.

Can dental implants be done in one trip?

No. Bone needs three to six months to grow onto the implant surface. The first trip is three to five days for placement, the second three to five days for the abutment and crown. For a full arch, allow six to eight days per trip.

Can I fly straight after a tooth extraction?

Usually the next day after a simple extraction and two to three days after a surgical one, with a check-up before you leave. Swelling peaks on day two or three, so do not book the return flight for the morning after surgery.
