What it is

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jaw to replace a missing tooth root. Once the bone has bonded to it, a crown is fixed on top. The result looks, feels and works like a natural tooth and does not touch the teeth next to it.

At Auradentis, implants are placed by [an oral surgeon / implantologist] and the crowns are made in our own lab, so shade and fit are adjusted the same day rather than sent away.

  • Why patients choose it
  • Fixed in place: no removable denture, no adhesive
  • Protects the jawbone from shrinking after tooth loss
  • Neighbouring teeth are left untouched
  • Eat, speak and smile normally

Is it for me?

Is it right for me?

Usually a good fit

  • One or more missing teeth
  • Healthy gums and enough bone, or bone that can be built up
  • Non-smokers or willing to pause smoking during healing
  • Adults whose jaw has finished growing

Not ideal, or treated first

  • Uncontrolled diabetes or active gum disease (treated first)
  • Heavy smokers, without a plan to stop during healing
  • Recent radiotherapy to the jaw
  • Some bone medications (bisphosphonates), assessed case by case
Risks

What can go wrong

Every treatment has risks. Here are the honest ones, and what we do about them.

Implant failure (2–5%)

Most failures happen in the first months if the bone does not bond. Smoking, gum disease and poor hygiene raise the risk. A failed implant is removed, the site heals and a new one can usually be placed. [State your policy on replacing a failed implant.]

Infection or peri-implantitis

Gum infection around an implant, usually from plaque. Prevented by cleaning and check-ups; treated early it is reversible.

Nerve or sinus involvement

Rare with 3D planning. Lower back-teeth implants sit near a nerve; upper ones near the sinus. The CBCT scan is how we avoid both.

Doing it in two visits

You will have a gap or a temporary tooth for three to six months. This is normal for implants everywhere; same-day 'teeth in a day' options exist for full arches (see All-on-4).

Aftercare

Aftercare and how long it lasts

  • Soft food and no smoking for the first week; avoid the site when brushing for a few days
  • Painkillers as prescribed; swelling peaks at day 2–3
  • Clean around the crown daily with floss or interdental brushes
  • Check-up and cleaning every 6–12 months at home; send us a photo any time
How long it lasts

Implants themselves last 15–25 years or longer with good hygiene; the crown on top may need replacing after 10–15 years.

FAQ

Questions patients ask

How much do dental implants cost in Turkey?

£400–800 per implant including the crown at Auradentis, versus £2,000–2,500 in the UK. Full-arch options start from £[—] per arch.

How many visits do I need?

Two. The implant is placed on the first visit (3–5 days in Istanbul) and the crown fitted on the second, three to six months later.

Is it painful?

Placement is done under local anaesthetic and most patients describe it as easier than an extraction. Expect soreness and swelling for a few days.

What if I do not have enough bone?

A bone graft or sinus lift can rebuild it, sometimes at the same time as the implant. The 3D scan shows whether you need one; it is priced in the written quote.

Which implant brands do you use?

[List brands, e.g. Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Osstem.] Each implant comes with the manufacturer's warranty card and lot number.

What happens if an implant fails after I go home?

[Your policy: e.g. free replacement within X years if hygiene instructions were followed; travel costs excluded.]
